under title of Horizons of the Pharmaceutical Sector in Sinai through

Egypt Vision 2030

Under the generous patronage of Prof. Dr. Jehan Fekri, Sinai University President, and Prof. Dr. Abdelhamid Abdo, University Vice-President for Educational and Student Affairs, the conference was opened with the national anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt & verses from the Holy Qur’an. Then a video was shown about the Faculty of Pharmacy, Sinai University, Arish Branch. The welcome speech was given by Prof. Dr. Hesham Aly Salem, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy which followed by a presentation of the achievements and scientific research of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Sinai University, Arish Campus for the year 2023/2024.

The conference starts with session under title of Sinai Medicinal Plants in Egypt’s Vision 2030. The session moderator was Prof. Dr. Ghada Shaker Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Sinai University Kantara Branch, which includes the following:

The First lecture was under title of Future Prospective of Herbal Medicine in Egypt 2030 by Prof. Dr. Abdel-Naser Sengab, Professor of Pharmacognosy, former vice president of Ain Shams university and Head of Egyptian pharmacists syndicate.

Secondly, Prof. Dr. Khaled Meselhy, professor of pharmacognosy, Head of entrepreneurship and career center at faculty of Cairo University giving a lecture entitled Integrating aqua-agriculture with pharma technology to enhance the sustainability, efficacy and safety of Sinai omega corner.

Thirdly, Prof. Dr. Hany Samy, Professor of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants at Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Al-Arish University giving a lecture entitled Sustainable Development of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in Sinai.

Then hold a discussion at the end of the session between the speakers and the audiences about the lectures that speakers have spoken about previously.

Then a first break for an hour, in which Prof. Dr. Jehan Fekri, President of Sinai University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Hamid Abdo, Vice President of Sinai University and Prof. Dr. Hesham Aly Salem, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy checked scientific posters of the teaching staff from the departments of the Faculty of Pharmacy which include departments of Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Microbiology and Immunology and Pharmaceutics. Also, they checked out the graduation projects of the fifth level students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Sinai University in course of Entrepreneurship under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Jamil Al-Kashef, on the ground floor of the faculty of Pharmacy (building A).

The conference was then continued with the second session which was entitled the prospects of entrepreneurship, industrialization and labor market for Sinai pharmacists which was moderated by Prof. Dr. Abdel-Naser Sengab which includes the following:

First, Dr. Mohamed Abdelhady, Head North Sinai Pharmacists Syndicate, owner of Sina and creative pharma companies giving a lecture entitled the labor market, its fields and the role of pharmacists syndicate in developing the profession.

Secondly, Dr. Alaa Mohamed Atia business development director of Eipico giving a lecture entitled Challenges and Opportunities in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing (a look into the future).

Thirdly, Ass. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Yasser, Pharmaceutics Department, Portsaid University, giving a lecture entitled From Sinai to Success: Harnessing Sinai Resources for Cosmetic Formulation and Entrepreneurship as a Promising Pharmacy Career.

Then hold a discussion at the end of the session between the speakers and the audience about the lectures that speakers have spoken about previously.

After that there was a speech about student activities and families at the faculty of Pharmacy, delivered by the student Mohamed Abdel Nasser Mahmoud, fifth year student and president of the faculty of Pharmacy Union discussed all the scientific visits, entertainment trips and various activities throughout the 2023/2024 academic year. The conference concluded after that by honoring the teaching staff and the top students from various years. At the end of the day, there was a musical theater performance by Sinai University students.

The conference recommendations

  1. Create an updated database with the names and types of medicinal plants and their distribution areas in the Sinai Peninsula.
  2. Create a database of research that has been conducted on these plants since 1980.
  3. Searching for the cultivation of promising plant species that have left behind the economic aspect.
  4. Study the market for distributing raw products, whether oils or extracts, in the global market.
  5. Identifying farms of choice for plants and training workers in planting and harvesting.
  6. Establishing a research center for medicinal plants in terms of cultivation, extraction and biological effectiveness under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Sinai University, and the pharmacognosy departments of the Republic.
  7. Applying artificial intelligence in agriculture, extraction, and studying the global market.
  8. Introducing artificial intelligence on a large scale into pharmacy courses.
  9. A recommendation to study the botanical preparations found in the Egyptian market and conduct a confirmation study the quality has to match international standards.
  10. Applications of artificial intelligence in pharmacy.
  11. Conduct detailed workshops to highlight new areas of work for pharmacy.
  12. When to shaft career.
  13. Applications of nanotechnology in the pharmaceutical industry.
  14. Implementing the programmed pharmacist program.
