Dr. Hafez Mohamed Shawky held a meeting with our students introducing them to healthcare quality and presented the idea of the physical therapy profession.As a token of appreciation, Dr. Gihan Fekry, Vice President of Sinai University’s Kantara Campus, presented Dr. Hafez with an award.
In light of the country’s tendencies to support digital transformation & deepen the use of software and its applications, and based on the role of programming and computer science in supporting this approach, (ECPC 2023) Egyptian Collegiate Programming Contest was held.
Which is organized by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Sinai University, Kantara Branch, was keen to participate in the activities of the competition, as an affirmation of the quality of the educational output of the Faculty of Information Technology & Computer Science at the university, where 15 students from the faculty participated in the activities of the competition in its various stages. Prof. Dr. Yasser Dakouri, Dean of the College, confirmed the participation & preparation of students in advance at different stages through internal qualifiers events that began with the participation of 45 male & female students, measuring their programming levels through tests, then training the students who passed & measuring their level one more time after training to finalize participating teams. There are 5 teams, consisting of 15 students, led by Dr. Yasmine Hosni Al-Qadi & under the supervision of members of the supporting staff; Mahmoud Khaled & Mariam Jamal Al-Feki.
The idea of the competition is based on developing students’ abilities to use systematic solution methods & computer algorithms to solve industrial problems by writing a program to solve problems in completely in the shortest time possible. Each team consists of 3 students & a coach. In this competition, students work collectively to solve the largest number of problems in the least possible time using one computer for each team during throughout the whole competition period, which lasts for 5 continuous hours.
The competition was held at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport in Alexandria. During which the five university teams were able to actively participate & prove their presence in overcoming several stages in the competition where one of the five teams; “Never Fail Team!” reached the final stage
This participation is the first for Sinai University, which is held annually, & is an unprecedented achievement for the university & the Faculty of Information Technology & computer science.
His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hatem Al-Balk, Vice President for International Relations Prof. Dr. Yasser Dakouri, Vice President for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Emad Amer, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies, Community Service & Environmental Development Prof. Dr. Jihan Fekry for the university’s full support for the participating students in appreciation of what they have achieved. It is an honor, promising more support to compete in all upcoming local & international competitions for students of Sinai University’s various faculties.
